Fund of Hedge Funds located in Stamford CT managing $4.0 billion in assets is looking for a junior operational due diligence analyst to join their operational due diligence team. This firm has been in business since 2001 and is a growing firm with 40+ employees dedicated to its success.
Responsibilities include performing operational due diligence on new hedge funds as well as monitoring existing hedge fund relationships. This person will conduct on-site due diligence reviews of hedge funds and their operations. This will include discussions with service providers, financial statement and offering document reviews, maintaining an internal database and preparation of operational due diligence reports for presentation to the investment committee.
The preferred candidate is one with 2-3 years of operational due diligence experience. Preferred candidates should have experience working either at a hedge fund, a fund administrator or an accounting firm. A 4 year college degree is required. Candidate should possess strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal skills; be able to conduct “interviews” with hedge fund professionals and have strong writing skills. This person should be able to work independently and be comfortable working within a “smaller” firm where teamwork is essential. Position may require some domestic and international travel. Salary dependent upon experience. Position does not provide a relocation package.
The main duties of the position are as follows:
•Reporting into the Head of Operational Due Diligence, he/she will work closely with the internal investment team to prepare for business / operational reviews related to imminent and existing investments
Communicate and establish good working relationships with senior business personnel of hedge funds
Review various forms of documentation and conduct interviews (on-site with hedge funds) to establish facts pertaining to business and operational risk (Note that the on-site visits may require some business travel in and outside the US)
Evaluate the overall quality of hedge fund systems, controls, infrastructure and personnel in order to identify issues relevant to the overall investment decision
Write detailed reports containing comprehensive information and analysis related to the business and operational environment at the hedge funds which are published to the investment team
Perform regular monitoring of ongoing investments
