Manager/Senior with strong small business and tax experience for local CPA firm located in the lovely Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. Nelson County is being "discovered" due to its low tax structure, modest cost of living, beautiful environs and friendly people. While it is well known as being the home of many successful wineries and breweries, it is also home for a wide variety of small businesses. Our firm is experiencing good growth and a successful candidate will have a fast track to ownership in the firm.
Manage the small business clientele, including developing good workflow procedures and establishing strong relationships in the local business community
Prepare and review corporate and partnership tax returns and related workpapers
Respond to tax authorities on behalf of clients
Supervise and review preparation of other business returns, such as payroll and local taxes
Provide proactive tax planning and related research for business clients
Supervise and train firm staff in the preparation of business tax returns and related workpapers
Participate in long-term planning and development for the firm
Participate in community organizations to develop strong relationships in the local community

Required Experience and Qualifications:
CPA licensed in Virginia
Minimum of five years of experience with at least two in a supervisory role with client interaction
Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns and related workpapers
Proficiency in relevant applications including QuickBooks, Thomson Reuters Suite, Adobe and Microsoft Office
Experience with multi-state returns and operations
Professional oral and written communication skills
