Mimecast is looking for a Global Revenue Controller to join its Finance organization. The Global Revenue Controller will be responsible for aligning the quote to cash process, revenue recognition, revenue reporting and other related processes on a global basis. This position will provide significant oversight and guidance to regional finance managers, controllers and their teams. This position will report directly to the Assistant Corporate Controller.
This position will play a key role in driving the efficiency, accuracy and scalability of the Company’s Revenue and Order Operations processes given the Company’s rapid growth. The ideal candidate will have a public accounting and private industry background, have SaaS revenue experience, and will be highly detail-oriented with the ability to interpret and summarize key issues and drive team performance.
Provide significant oversight to regional teams responsible for revenue and receivables processes, including order processing, billing, collections, revenue accounting, controls, etc.
Work with technical accounting and financial operations teams to develop and maintain revenue and receivables policies and processes, including design, implementation, execution and evaluation of revenue and receivables controls.
Primarily responsible for ensuring Company is aware of and managing its business consistent with new revenue related guidance from the SEC and FASB and research technical accounting matters, including SaaS and professional services revenue recognition and contract accounting.
Provide significant input into the Company’s implementation of ASC 606, including primary responsibility for certain elements of the Company’s process.
Provide significant guidance in the identification and utilization of key systems required for the accurate and efficient recognition and reporting of revenue, including overseeing testing of required system modifications.
Ensure regional teams implement appropriate financial controls consistent with the Company’s SOX 404 program.
Continuously assess overall revenue and receivables operations/processes; recommend and lead cross-functional process improvement projects aimed at improving accuracy, efficiency and scalability.
Interact with sales, legal, professional services and accounting/finance teams. Interact and communicate with external customers when necessary.
Develop and maintain key metrics and trend dashboards for reporting to Global Accounting and FP&A teams.
Interact with regional teams and FP&A to build revenue and deferred revenue projections as well as cash flow/cash collection projections.
Review customer contracts for revenue recognition implications, where necessary.
Interface with external auditors regarding revenue, deferred revenue, and accounts receivable as well as the related processes and controls.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA and/or MBA/MSA a plus)
10+years of experience
Prior experience managing people
Ability to lead as well as work independently
Experience with US GAAP SaaS based revenue recognition and other service based revenue recognition and related concepts
Highly organized and detail oriented

Experience working with and understanding system functionalities and capabilities

NetSuite ERP system experience a plus
