Responsible for the efforts and results of the financial department. Reports to the President regarding all financial, accounting and related company acitivites.
Financial Controller Job Responsibilities:
Oversee and maintain all accounting operations, company accounts and investments
Create monthly and annual reports to identify results, trends, and financial forecasts.
Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accouts payable
Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
Ensure that periodic bank reconcilations are completed
Manage cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reports
Manage software and technology requirements and applications
Suggest updates and improvements for accounting systems, including payroll and invoicing
Ensure that all financial transactions are properly recorded, filed and reported
Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Responsible for consolidation of subsidiary financial statements
Calculate commissions and bonuses
Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
Develop budgets and financial plans for the company
Review all financial plans and budgets regularly to look for cost reduction opportunities
Examine all financial reports and data closely to check for discrepancies
Create systems to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
Report to the President with timely and accurate financial information
Assist the President in presenting reports to stockholders and board members
Manage HR benefits such as 401K and health insurance
Manage company insurance policies, ensuring effective coverage and looking for cost saving opportunities
Manage product pricing databases
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Additional controller duties as necessary
Bachelor's degree or master's degree in accounting; several years of experience in a business or finance environment; Preference will be given to candidates with Certified Public Accountant or Certified Managmeent Accountant designations, management experience; leadership skills; interpersonal skills; outstanidng mathematical skills; honest; integrity, reliability, solid written and verbal communications skills; high attention to detail, organization skills; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; research skills; analytical skills, computer skills, understanding of data privacy standardds, etc. Proficiency in word processing applications, spreadsheet applications, and computer-based accounting and information systems; preferably familiar with SAP.
