The Office of University Advancement for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is in a national search for a Director of Financial Affairs. The Director of Financial Affairs manages all financial applications for the Office of University Advancement, the SIUE foundation (SIUEF) and the Alumni Association (AA).
The Director of Financial Affairs coordinates processing of all SIUE Foundation (SIUEF) accounting and gift records, supervises accounting staff and support personnel, prepares the quarterly and annual financial statements, completes/files federal and state tax 990 information returns and reports this information to the SIUEF Board of Directors and Committees. He/she works with external auditors, ensuring compliance with all related SIUEF policies and procedures, and develops financial policies in coordination with the Vice Chancellor as needed.
The Director administers investments for the SIUEF portfolio, reviewing performance and manager reports and offering portfolio recommendations to the SIUEF Investment Committee. He/she presents the information to the Foundation Board as needed and manages meetings of the Finance & Investment Committee (three times or more yearly) and the Audit Committee (three times or more yearly).
Working with the Alumni Association staff and external auditors, the Director handles all Alumni Association financial requirements, including preparation of monthly budgets, quarterly and annual financial statements, and reports this information to the Director of Constituent Relations and the Alumni Association Finance and Audit Committees.
Additionally, the Director handles accounting functions for the SIUE Charter High School, implementing planned giving instruments and working with the Vice Chancellor on investment strategies, donor reporting and tax reporting. Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the University’s and Foundation’s mission and goals.
The salary range for this position is $82,043 - $99,314 annually, to commensurate with experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, pension, generous vacation days, and administrative/holiday closures.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (specific academic preparation needed). -Certified Public Accountant (CPA). -Five years of supervisory accounting experience; exposure to governmental or non-profit accounting highly recommended. -Three years of experience and demonstrated knowledge of robust, enterprise accounting software. -Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software application. -Ability to communicate financial information to non-financial donors, staff and board members. -General understanding of institutional portfolio management.
Preferred Qualifications: -Three years of experience in managing, advising or other related function related to institutional investment portfolio.
