The Portfolio Manager (PM) serves as the primary firm contact for a significant number of client relationships. In this role, the PM oversees the implementation and maintenance of balanced, multiple asset class portfolios across diverse accounts in a client-tailored and tax-sensitive manner and provides his or her clients with guidance and direction on financial planning topics. Earning very high levels of client satisfaction is essential.
Handle a client load of 80-95 clients, depending on client complexity, other responsibilities and tenure.
Provide exceptional, responsive service and portfolio management to all clients, resulting in high levels of client satisfaction.
Establish deep relationships with clients which include an understanding of their complete financial picture.
Understand the firm’s investment philosophy and financial planning approach with proficiency in all areas and commitment to ongoing knowledge development.
Perform core client service and portfolio management responsibilities including:
Preparation for and leading of client annual and (as necessary) bi-annual review meetings
Development of portfolio allocations and investment recommendations; handling of all significant cash contributions
Ongoing responsibility for appropriate asset allocation and cash management
Proactive financial planning
Regular, meaningful client contact
Responsiveness to all client requests within 24 hours
Documentation of all important client communications
Adherence to all standards established for the management of client relationships
Contribute to the professional growth and development of portfolio administration support team member(s)
Develop and coordinate client service protocols that include integration with compliance and operations.
Achieve annually established goals to obtain client referrals, to develop relationships with centers of influence, and to develop new business either as rainmaker or in the closing role.
Participate in other firm activities, as appropriate, such as writing articles for the newsletter.
Demonstrate professional, ethical, and courteous conduct in responsibilities and dealings with clients, prospects, COIs, B|O|S colleagues, and other business entities with which B|O|S has a relationship. This includes compliance with legal, professional and established firm standards of conduct. Uphold the B|O|S values as work is performed.
8+ years experience in financial services, consulting or related industry counseling clients. Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships effectively.
BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience required; Masters degree(s) a plus.
CFP® or CFA designation preferred. (Current pursuit of a designation is a plus).
Expected to be knowledgeable about industry trends and concepts. Five years in finance or related industry is typical.
Exceptional oral and written communication skills required.
Demonstrated success conducting presentations. Poised and confident in presenting to clients.
Passion for client service.
Strong research skills.
Ability to reliably deliver meticulous work. Ensures quality standards are consistently met.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; Advent Axys, Microsoft Dynamics, financial planning software, and rebalancing software proficiency preferred.
