The Orvis Company is seeking an experienced and professional Senior Finance Manager to join our leadership team. This position will play a key role in the organization’s funding strategy and long-term financial security. The Finance Manager will collaborate with the executive management team to analyze company finances and develop budgets that will ensure the future business successes. The areas of responsibility include inventory, cash, audits, tax, capital expenditures, and leases.

The Senior Finance Manager reports to the Controller and is located in Roanoke, Virginia. This individual will oversee the Compliance Accounting and Inventory Accounting teams. Internal: IT, Retail, Fulfillment, Real Estate, Inventory Management, UK Finance, executives; External: External auditors, tax authorities, banks, payment processors
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Member of Leadership Team: Develop strong relationship with Finance Leaders (Director of FP&A and CFO) and Directors and Vice-Presidents throughout Orvis
Manage FinOps teams, constantly increasing the quality of service and output, while increasing efficiency and scalability and developing the potential of individuals within the team
Day to day responsibility for annual bank and fiscal year-end audits
Partner with Controller and outside CPA to ensure accurate preparation of federal and state income tax returns as well as estimation of taxable income and shareholder distributions
Calculation and filing of Federal Excise Tax on sport fishing equipment, maintenance of taxable SKU database, and audits
Lead process and systems improvement initiatives by identifying goals, working with teams to develop solutions, and setting and communicating implementation timelines
Support and participate in both the daily operations with our banking partners and the periodic negotiation of new banking agreements
Partner with Controller and CFO to maintain current banking relationships as well as identify and explore alternatives
Identify evolutionary path to transition existing Cash Management function into a strategically focused global Treasury Department

5+ years of strong financial experience in the context of a retail industry participant or public accounting firm

Experience performing financial and ad hoc analyses and providing recommendations based on results to senior management
